app freezing on startup

I open Reloaded II and it immediately freezes almost everytime

Having the same problem... it's my first time using the program so not sure if I did something wrong. For me, sometimes I can click a few buttons before it freezes, other times seems to instantly freeze like in your video.

I believe I was able to resolve the issue by deleting all my mods and then doing fresh installations of them. I'm not 100% sure if it's fixed after a few days of use, I will come back here and say for sure if I fixed it that being if I remember.

Same issue, and It does stop the app from freezing!

Well, deleting all my mods seemed to have work just fine if it ever happens again, I will try opening the program with no internet connection. For me deleting my mods folder and reinstalling everything fixed it but if you had this issue, I would try the Wi-Fi method first since it is the least destructive.

Hi BRETTGAMER, you seem to have possibly had same issue as i did.

Check Reloaded Freeze - Network Connection for what i did to solve it.

If it starts acting up again, you or anyone else could try it out.
It does require some patience and time tho. So best to try it on a weekend?

Root cause: startup deadlock in the mod update check (dump analysis included)

Hitting the same freeze on 1.30.2 / Windows 11 (build 26100). App window appears, then hangs within seconds, ~every launch. Captured a full dump while frozen and analyzed it in WinDbg — this is a classic sync-over-async deadlock between the UI thread and the update-check continuation.

Environment: Reloaded-II 1.30.2.0, Windows 11 26100, .NET 9.0.825.36511, no antivirus beyond Defender.

Thread 0 can't return from Task.Wait until the async update work completes; the async work can't complete because its continuation is marshaled to the UI thread via Dispatcher.Invoke, and the UI thread is stuck in Task.Wait. Two additional threads (window glow-color animation in Reloaded.WPF.Theme.Default.WindowViewModel.set_GlowColor) are also queued behind the dead dispatcher — downstream symptoms of the same hang.

Why it's intermittent

The deadlock only triggers on the code path where the startup check finds pending mod updates (that's what constructs ModUpdateDialogViewModel), and it's a race — occasionally the tasks complete before the UI thread blocks, and the app starts fine. This matches the "almost every time" behavior reported above.

Workaround (confirmed)

Block or disconnect network before launching (e.g., an outbound firewall rule on Reloaded-II.exe). With the update check unable to find updates, the dialog is never constructed and the app starts normally.

Likely fix

Don't block on GetUpdateInfo in the ModUpdateDialogViewModel constructor — await it off the constructor path (or use ConfigureAwait(false) upstream in GetUpdateDetailsAsync so the continuation doesn't need the dispatcher while the UI thread is blocked). Happy to provide the full ~*k output or test a build if useful. I have a fix for this and will open a PR shortly.
