In order to capture the interest of the people that are saying "They don't have the skills to help, but are really interested in joining", we should set up a pre-signup mailing letter, probably through the website, which can also act as a pitch/portfolio for the project.

I would like to see this handled in phases. Phase 1 is just a simple page with maybe 1 paragraph outlining our goals and purpose, i.e. open source, "fair" dating app. Then just simple newsletter email signup field.

I don't think we should "pitch" the project strongly on the page until the org and plans get more specific. So Phase 2 is when we start to add more details about what we're doing and why people should sign-up.

Phase 3 perhaps we add more info about e.g. target launch date, etc.

Using this approach lets us put something out quickly, avoid being unclear or misleading or having to walk back something we said, etc. I understand the desire to start getting interest now, and we should, but the amount of emails we'll get now is going to be a tiny drop in the bucket compared to the total signups we'll need. Whether we pitch hard now or in 2-3 months is not going to make a big difference in how many signups we get. What will make a difference is how effectively communicated and high quality our "pitch" is. So I think we should wait to really lean into "marketing" to people, essentially, until we have more things figured out and can better communicate and encapsulate info about us and the service.

Yes I think this is a good idea. Our pitch isn't 100% clear yet, but they are right about the value of having something to point at and building SEO.

It would also make sense to gather emails and demographic info from people who take the surveys we're running. That way we start building a user base.

In terms of pitch it can be as simple as: a better dating app.

We probably want to advertise this in places where women gather too, otherwise we'll just have a bunch of dudes.

I like the phasing idea. Phase 1 with simple description and form, maybe an email confirmation notif, that's doable in an hour.
