personally, I'd say that it is pretty natural to use native close button.
do we really need dedicated "Hide" here as well ?

Right, close does the same thing as hide here. I think the reason for "hide" is to indicate that it's safe to press it without compromising the connection. As you say, it's probably superfluous, but not annoying, and may help some.
