✅ Manual Testing Checklist - Menu Overlay System

🎯 CRITICAL: Run this checklist before EVERY commit

✅ Core Menu Functionality

Must work perfectly - any failure = immediate rollback

  • Menu Opens Correctly

    • Click hamburger button
    • Menu overlay appears smoothly
    • Circular overlay scales from center
    • Frosted glass effect visible

  • Menu Closes Correctly

    • Click hamburger button again
    • Menu overlay disappears smoothly
    • Scale animation reverses properly
    • Menu is completely hidden

  • Hamburger Animation

    • Icon transforms to X when opened
    • Smooth rotation animation (no stuttering)
    • X transforms back to hamburger when closed
    • Hover effect works (360° rotation when open)

✅ Visual Quality Tests

Appearance must be perfect

  • Overlay Shape

    • Perfect circular overlay (no half-circle clipping)
    • Overlay covers entire screen
    • No visual artifacts or glitches

  • Blur Effect

    • Background is properly blurred behind overlay
    • Frosted glass effect clearly visible
    • No flickering or render issues

  • Text Readability

    • Menu text is clearly visible
    • Good contrast against blurred background
    • Text doesn't overlap or clip

✅ Navigation Functionality

All links must work correctly

  • Internal Navigation

    • "About" link works and closes menu
    • "Projects" link works and closes menu
    • "Skills" link works and closes menu
    • Smooth scrolling to sections

  • External Navigation

    • "Resume" link opens in new tab
    • Menu stays open for external links
    • Link URL is correct

  • Click Areas

    • All menu items are clickable
    • Hover effects work correctly
    • No dead zones or unresponsive areas

✅ Animation Performance

Must be smooth and responsive

  • Frame Rate

    • Open/close animation is smooth (60fps)
    • No stuttering or frame drops
    • Consistent timing

  • Responsiveness

    • Menu responds immediately to clicks
    • No delays or laggy behavior
    • Animations start/stop cleanly

  • Memory Performance

    • No memory leaks after multiple open/close cycles
    • Consistent performance over time

✅ Cross-Device Testing

Must work on all target devices

  • Desktop Chrome

    • All functionality works
    • Performance is smooth
    • Visual quality is good

  • Desktop Safari

    • All functionality works
    • Backdrop-filter support works
    • No visual glitches

  • Mobile Safari (iOS)

    • Touch interactions work
    • Menu scales appropriately
    • Performance acceptable

  • Mobile Chrome (Android)

    • Touch interactions work
    • Visual quality maintained
    • No crashes or errors

✅ Edge Cases & Error Conditions

Handle unusual scenarios gracefully

  • Rapid Clicking

    • Multiple rapid clicks don't break animation
    • Menu state stays consistent
    • No visual glitches

  • Page Resize

    • Menu adapts to window resize
    • Overlay stays properly positioned
    • No layout breaks

  • Keyboard Navigation

    • Tab navigation works
    • Enter/Space can activate menu
    • Focus indicators visible

🚨 FAILURE PROTOCOL

If ANY test fails:

  1. STOP - Do not proceed
  2. DOCUMENT - Note exactly what failed
  3. ROLLBACK - Revert to last known good state
  4. ANALYZE - Understand root cause
  5. FIX - Address the issue
  6. RE-TEST - Run full checklist again
  7. COMMIT - Only when 100% pass
