Check the use of pattern - CURIE doesn't have one and maybe other base definitions don't either? Ideally, base definitions have pattern and others inherit through $ref.
Qualifier.qualifier_type_id was the only example I found with $ref to CURIE but also has own pattern (actually makes sense since this is biolink only, have own case-pattern?).
