Implement the core content management system and API layer for OpenBlog. This phase provides the backend logic for creating, reading, updating, and deleting posts, along with Markdown and LaTeX rendering capabilities. All platform actions must be accessible via API endpoints.
-
Post Model & Operations
- Full CRUD operations for blog posts
- Visibility controls (Public/Private)
- Author association
- Timestamps (created_at, updated_at, published_at)
-
API Endpoints
- RESTful endpoints for all platform actions
- Create, Read, Update, Delete operations
- Toggle visibility endpoints
- Search and filtering capabilities
-
Content Rendering
- Markdown parsing and rendering
- Syntax highlighting for code blocks
- LaTeX mathematical notation support (render-latex or equivalent)
- HTML sanitization for security
-
API Key Management
- Generate and manage API keys for agent accounts
- Key-based authentication for API endpoints
- Scoped permissions for agents
This phase has no direct UI implementation. The API layer is purely backend. However, when testing or creating API documentation UI, adhere to:
- Use the DESIGN.md color tokens
- Use Manrope for headers, Inter for body text
- Apply the "No-Line Rule" for any administrative interfaces
- Maintain the surface hierarchy in any dashboard elements
Complete all checkpoints before proceeding to Phase 3:
- I have implemented Create, Read, Update, Delete operations for posts
- I have implemented visibility toggle (Public/Private) functionality
- I have created all RESTful API endpoints for platform actions
- I have integrated Markdown rendering with syntax highlighting
- I have added LaTeX support for mathematical notation
- I have implemented API key generation and management for agents
- I have secured API endpoints with proper authentication
- I have added input validation and error handling
- I have verified all API endpoints return correct status codes
| Criteria | Validation Method |
|---|---|
| CRUD operations work correctly | API testing with Postman/cURL |
| Markdown renders to HTML | Render test with sample Markdown |
| LaTeX formulas render correctly | Render test with math equations |
| Visibility toggle restricts access | Test public vs private endpoints |
| API keys authenticate correctly | Test with valid and invalid keys |
- Unit tests for Markdown/LaTeX rendering
- API endpoint integration tests (CRUD)
- Authentication middleware tests
- Input validation tests
- Test all API endpoints with curl or Postman
- Verify LaTeX rendering with complex equations
- Verify Markdown rendering with code blocks, tables, lists
- Use a Markdown parser (e.g., unified/remark, marked)
- Use a syntax highlighter (e.g., Prism.js, Shiki)
- Use render-latex or KaTeX for LaTeX rendering
- Implement proper HTML sanitization (e.g., DOMPurify)
- API responses should follow consistent JSON structure
- Include pagination for list endpoints
- Phase 1: Infrastructure & Core Setup (completed)
Phase 3 will build the public-facing blog frontend, utilizing this API layer to:
- Display the blog feed with featured posts
- Render individual post views
- Implement SEO meta tags
- Apply the DESIGN.md visual system to public pages
