Standalone Operation (Laptop Only)
Are you running your mainboard as a standalone device. Is standalone mode enabled in the BIOS?
Describe the bug
The system has experienced 7 unexpected reboots or hard freezes between 2026-04-07 and 2026-05-06 (approximately one month). Two are confirmed BugCheck 0xB8 ATTEMPTED_SWITCH_FROM_DPC BSODs. At least one was a hard freeze with no bugcheck recorded, requiring forced power-off via the power button.
The crashes appear correlated with power-state transitions (Modern Standby resume / lid events). The system is locked to S0 Low Power Idle (Network Connected), S3 is unavailable, so there is no fallback sleep state.
Steps To Reproduce
The fault is intermittent and not reliably reproducible by user action. Observed pattern:
- Use the laptop normally; close lid or allow it to enter Modern Standby.
- Resume the system (open lid / press power).
- On a small fraction of resumes, the system either BSODs immediately with
0xB8 ATTEMPTED_SWITCH_FROM_DPC, or hangs completely requiring a forced power-off.
Average frequency: ~1.5 incidents per week over the past month, with a cluster of 3 events on 2026-05-04 / 2026-05-06.
Expected behavior
The system resumes from Modern Standby reliably without BSOD or hard freeze.
Screenshots
fault is logged via Event Viewer / minidump rather than visible UI.
Operating System (please complete the following information):
OS/Distribution: Windows 11 (Pro)
- Version: 24H2, build 26200
