The version 2.18.10 seems to be released with class file version 61.0 / Java 17

The jackson-dataformat-xml 2.18.10 version seems to require Java17 - I think this is an error, as the 2.18.x version should be Java 8 compatible.

Apparently it is fixed with 3b751a6 but not released yet. However this means, that 2.18.10 is not usable for anyone that is using a java version <17

First of all: thank you for reporting this, @oeph .

This is very unfortunate -- and will take a while to resolve as I won't have time to do 2.18.11 this or next week. :-(
But it is now on my radar.
