Fixes and features abandoned on the master branch

I'm concerned there are such huge differences between the main branch and the master branch. Specifically, development between July 2021 (v13.5.1) thru July 2022 (v19.0.9) has been "abandoned" on the master branch for almost three years. I'm sure many of those fixes/features were manually applied to the main branch, but I did notice at least one significant exception: PR #658 by @danatcofo, which enables the NativeImage API to be used on non-Windows platforms. It was merged into master 3 years ago yet never made its way to main. The main build generates hundreds of warnings related to the use of Windows-only .NET APIs, so I can only assume the owners are aware of this issue.

Was the omission of #658 intentional, accidental, too much effort to bring forward, or some other reason I'm unaware of? Are there other fixes/features added during that year which have been lost?
