[Feature Request] Download through URL call

Appologies if this has been asked before, I could not find anything throught the search.

I like to be able to call hometube through a GET request with the to-be-downloaded URL, this way I can use a bookmark to save a video.

Something like
http://:5410/download?url=https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7rTu3ywnCpA

(the 2nd URL needs to be url_encoded but you get the idea)

Is this something thats possible?

You're completely right. API calls aren't supported at the moment.
I started the implementation a few weeks ago but stopped as the download process needs a video or playlist URL but also location, custom title and playlist pattern (if so). HomeTube means to be used with those parameters to be a good automatic downloader.
What do you think? Do you think it will be worth it to have the ability to download videos at root with default title and pattern or a more customisable API setup will be of use. Would you use a more complexe API call http://:5410/download?url=https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7rTu3ywnCpA?location=Clips?title=Rating sinterklaas+treats+in+the+netherlands?

I think its great that you take the time to look at these requests.

How i would use it?
I think the best option would be to default everything if its not specifically specified.
Would be nice to have a place where we can specify some settings, for example for me they would be;
Locaton: root
title: <%from video%>
quality: 720p (the system would pick the best upto 720p in case it does not exist)

If i then request a download with :
http://:5410/download?url=https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7rTu3ywnCpA?location=Clips?title=Rating sinterklaas+treats+in+the+netherlands

It would overide my defaults ad save it to "Clips" and have a title of 'Rating sint...etc.' with the quality of 720p (since thats default)

Does that make sense?

How do you aim to use it? With curl from a terminal? Directly in the browser ? From another app?

I was thinking to use a bookmarklet in my browser(s) and i'd like to find a way to use this on my phone, not sure how yet.
It could be through Tasker>Autoshare or maybe through Hermit or something else (phone>node-red>hometube)

Sorry for the delay. The playlist feature took me a lot of time.
I won't have the time to implement it at the moment. But it might be the main future feature new version.
