Nether portal effect only works with IntegratedPBR+ in r5.8.1 #345

Description

@CQMHV

Description

In Complementary Reimagined r5.8.1, the custom Nether portal effect only works when RP Support is set to IntegratedPBR+.

When RP Support is changed to any other mode, including labPBR, the Nether portal effect stops working.

This issue does not occur in r5.7.1 under the same Minecraft and Iris environment, so this appears to be a regression introduced in r5.8.1.

Comparison

Minecraft Iris Complementary Reimagined Result
26.2 1.11.2+mc26.2 r5.7.1 ✅ Portal effect works normally
26.2 1.11.2+mc26.2 r5.8.1 ❌ Portal effect only works with IntegratedPBR+

Steps to reproduce

  1. Launch Minecraft 26.2 with Iris 1.11.2.
  2. Load Complementary Reimagined r5.8.1.
  3. Keep the shader settings at their defaults.
  4. Set RP Support to IntegratedPBR+.
  5. Observe a Nether portal. The Complementary portal effect works normally.
  6. Change RP Support to another mode, such as labPBR.
  7. Observe the Nether portal again.

Expected behavior

The Nether portal effect should continue to work when using other RP Support modes, as it did in r5.7.1.

Actual behavior

In r5.8.1, the Nether portal effect only works when RP Support is set to IntegratedPBR+. With other RP Support modes, the effect stops working.

Environment

  • Minecraft: 26.2
  • Iris: 1.11.2+mc26.2
  • Complementary Reimagined: r5.8.1
  • Comparison version: r5.7.1
  • OS: Windows 11 Pro 25H2 (Build 26200.8973)
  • CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 5600
  • RAM: 32 GB
  • GPU: Intel Arc A770 16 GB
  • GPU driver: 32.0.101.8860

Additional information

  • No custom resource packs are enabled; only Minecraft's default resources are used.
  • Complementary Reimagined is using its default settings, except for changing RP Support during testing.
  • No Euphoria Patches are installed. The issue can be reproduced with the unmodified Complementary Reimagined shader pack.
  • Downgrading from r5.8.1 to r5.7.1 under the exact same Minecraft 26.2 + Iris 1.11.2 environment restores the Nether portal effect.
