I originally put this under the Portal 2 bugtracker repository, and they told me it 'reads like something that should also be mentioned to your video driver vendor.' After running asahi-diagnose, I got that there was a GPU timeout with an unmapped reason (not sure how helpful/unhelpful that may be). I tested these using the first map of The Itch.
ERRORS FOR EACH COMPATIBILITY LAYER:
- Steam Linux Runtime 1.0/Legacy Runtime 1.0: Ventilation shafts in the behind-the-scenes sort of areas, as well as other metallic objects, have a weird neon green/yellow sort of color over their original texture.
- Either of the above using -vulkan: Freeze within ~1-2min. of loading the map (SLR) or after the second time you walk through a portal (legacy)
- Proton 10.0-4: Freeze within a few seconds of attempting to render a portlable surface
- Proton Hotfix: Crash almost immediately after attempting to render a portlable surface
- Proton Experimental: Crash almost immediately after window opens, before even the Valve intro video plays
- Proton 11 Beta: Crash near end of loading map
