Use of Cropped Data in Demo for Application Guide #1074

@JoeJimFlood - Interesting question. Are there implications for running the other scenarios in the cropped example - it seems like it would be most efficient to have all the examples used a common scope. If repop is used in support of the land use scenario, is there additional effort to set up PopSim for the cropped area? My sense of the application and analysis guide is that it's primary purpose is to show people the steps involved in coding a change in the own model system, not necessarily that folks would download and run the tests themselves (other than SANDAG, to evaluate the completeness of the instructions). But might be nice if they could. |

The scope says that the demonstrations in the Application and Analysis Guide will use SANDAG ABM3 example. However, there are two datasets within that example. A cropped dataset that was used for testing and a full dataset. The cropped data is easily accessible in the example model's repo and the full data is downloaded when the exercise.py script is run. Having the demos based off of the cropped data would make it much easier to write the guide and test the demos, and the runtimes for the user would be shorter. I've identified a light rail stop within the cropped data that would be good for demonstrating TOD (though it would probably be bad for TOD in real life given its proximity to a major airport runway). Are there any objections to using the cropped data as opposed to the full data?
Here's a map of the geographic scope of the cropped data (the areas that are cut off are just water), with the light rail lines.
